The Jupiter Foundation

Now that the Wave Glider platforms are readily available, the Foundation has an emerging activity to develop and integrate selected electronic payload devices. One vehicle, in accordance with the Wave Glider origin, is being outfitted with a broadband satellite communications link to enable monitoring and broadcasting of Humpback songs from almost any ocean locale. Another vehicle, now in the concept stage, will be designed to function as a remotely operated maritime laboratory for taking various oceanographic, meteorological, and climatological measurements and transmitting them to scientists, the public, and students. Given the daunting challenges of global warming studies, such systems will prove to be an invaluable resource.
