Jupiter Officers and Key Contributors
Joseph D. Rizzi, President and Executive Director, cofounder Jupiter Research Foundation 2003-Present. Previously he was a general partner of Matrix Partners LLP, a Silicon Valley venture capital organization. While at Matrix he helped launch and was on the board of many small and large companies. He founded and ran several companies in Silicon Valley during the 1970s and 80s.
Tim Richardson, Jupiter cofounder, CFO, Director, 2003-Present cofounder Liquid Robotics, Inc. Previously, he was President and CEO of Micro Linear Corporation, a publicly traded company which was acquired by Sirenza Microdevices in 2006. He also was the President and co-founder of VeriFiber Technologies, which was acquired by Bandwidth 9, where he served as Executive Vice President following the acquisition.
William Stutz, Jupiter cofounder, Chief Scientist, Director, 2003-Present oversees systems design and implementation. He is a highly experienced semiconductor and electronic systems design engineer. Previously he held engineering leadership positions at several prominent Silicon Valley companies including Intersil, ELXSI, NexGen, and Micro Linear.

Thampy Thomas, Director, 2009-Present Also director Liquid Robotics, Inc., was the co-founder of NexGen, the developer of the very first competitive alternative to Intel's Pentium processors. He served as President and CEO of NexGen from its inception in 1986 until 1991, and as its Chairman until 1994. He was also a co-founder and Senior Vice President of Engineering of ELXSI (1979-1985). He is an investor in and director of several early-stage companies. He received his BSEE from Birla Institute of Technology, India, and MSEE and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Bruce Kamolnick, Jupiter cofounder, Secretary and Treasurer, Director, 2003-Present is a former Financial Analyst for Liquid Robotics, Inc. As a CPA he has been a member of Frank, Rimerman LLP of San Jose, CA and Hutchinson & Bloodgood LLP of Santa Cruz, CA. He received his Masters of Accountancy from San Jose State University.
Lauren Stutz, Mechanical Technologist, 2003-Present runs the Foundation model shop.
Beth Goodwin, Manager, Hawaii Operations, 2006-Present is a USCG Licensed Captain, and has spent more than 30 years identifying marine mammals throughout the Eastern Tropical Pacific. She was responsible for the Hawaii marine operations and facilities for Liquid Robotics, Inc. before returning to Jupiter Foundation full time. She also owned a whale watch tour in Hawaii and was a SCUBA instructor and competitive swimmer for many years. She has an M.A. in Physiology & Behavioral Biology from San Francisco State and a B.A. in Marine Biology from UC Santa Cruz.
Murray Taylor, Marine Operations, 2010-Present, is a long time Hawaii transplant originally from New Zealand with a four year Certificate of Engineering in Telecommunications and Electronics. He also has an extensive background in boating, sailing, diving, mechanics, shop work and of course surfing.
Joe Krueger, Applied Physicist, Hawaii Operations, 2012-Present, is a former Field Engineer working on ALD reactors around the world, and as well as a Particle Accelerator Technician. He has experience with electronics, programming, and machining. He is an advanced SCUBA diver, as well as an experienced rock climber and boater, all of which compliment our marine operations. He received his B.S. in Applied Physics from Purdue University.
Mark Grandoni, Marine Operations, 2010-9.3.2012 has a BS in Marine Resource Development, was a former commercial fisherman and Peace Corp volunteer in the Phillipines developing offshore fishery management systems for local fishing communities. Prior to coming to JRF, Mark was a Captain on boats ranging from 24’ rigid inflatables to 60’ sailing catamarans and had owned and operated his own hiking eco-tour and ocean kayaking company. He has lived on the Big Island since 1986.
